Welcome to The Trail Explorer, a site designed to give you a perspective on
what to look for on the many types of trails found in Western North Carolina. Hiking trails,
canoeing trails, rock climbing trails, biking trails, running trails, horse trails, and maybe
even four-wheeled driving trails. Our objective is to gradually increase the database and cover
more and more trails throughout the United States.
I am going to describe each trail in detail. You will learn how to get to the trailheads, and
what to expect in terms of length, difficulty, and sights to be seen. Also, I am going to explore
the history, flora and fauna, geography, geology, and future of these trails so everyone will
have a better appreciation of just what the true environment each trail has to offer. And, maybe
armed with this knowledge, these areas will demand enough respect from explorers like you to
help keep their integrity intact. |
